Welcome To The Rancho Valencia Website

This is a website for all of us to use as a means of communication. Blogs, especially those on blogger.com, are fairly easy to navigate. I would suggest adding the site to your bookmarks to find it quickly. Hopefully we can post board minutes and other valuable information here so that it is easily accessible for everyone.

Below is the initial email Bill Stark sent out earlier this week...

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the RV Blog! Thank you for joining. I very much enjoyed speaking with many of you this last weekend. I think this will really help us as a community. It is kind of a neighborhood watch. We can take opinion polls on subjects before board meetings and share information.

If I have misspelled your name or you want to change your information, please send corrections to me so that I can finalize the list. A couple of homes are between e-mail addresses right now but do want to be a part of the list. I have included the list as an attachment so that you can sort it at will. If you don't see your neighbor on the list it is probably because they weren't home. Go tell them about the list, ask if they would like to be on it, and if they do then send me an e-mail with all the information. Please put RV Blog in the subject line so that even though we may not recognize the e-mail address it was sent from we will know it is from a neighbor. If I get an e-mail from someone I don't know I delete it without opening it.

This distribution is not for selling Girl Scout cookies or advertising your business. It is for communicating things like gate code changes, board meeting changes, information on maintenance or upcoming events. Anyone who breaks the rules may find themselves removed from the distribution list.

So what's on your mind? Hot topics that I discussed with many of you include:

1) The first house on the right as you enter from JFK. The landscaping is turning brown and the trees are dying. It is the signature home for our track and it must be kept looking nice. It is owned by Capital One and Darlene Kearney is the contact. (951)781-9965

2) The orange groves are looking great! Dave Pulver told me that the original plan was to skirt all the trees but to hedge and top every third row. He mentioned Saturday that the board has decided to bite the bullet and do all the rows. NOTE: one neighbor experienced a lot of flying debris (oranges & sticks) from the flywheel cutting machine. . . So look out!

3) Many neighbors expressed interest in having a community block party.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Bill Stark

Front Gate House...

Hi All,
I have contacted the Capital One banker (Darlene Kearney is listed as the representative but I always speak to Sandra) and they told me that they hired a gardener to care for the property month to month. She said that he was going to go to the property on Tuesday. I checked Tuesday night and the water to the irrigation valves is still off (water to the hose bib is on). I spoke to Darlene finally (Wed noon) and she said that they will do whatever it takes to green it up. I also informed her that there is an open window. They will be out to resecure the home.

Guess what? When I got home today, there was a truck and trailer at the front house. I stopped to see if it was the gardener. It wasn't. Instead it was a carpet cleaner. But, when I got to the door I noticed that the house has been cited by RPD Code Enforcement for having a brown lawn!!! Along with a $100 fine. That should get things moving! All repairs to be made by 5/5/08.

When I got home Monday (5/5) the gardeners were there removing weeds. I asked about the watering and they said that they had just repaired a main supply valve so the irrigation control valves. This means that the sprinklers have not been running. When asked about that, they said that they had been watering by hand, which I find doubtful.

URGENT--HELP PRESERVE THE VALUE OF OUR HOMES! PLEASE ATTEND THIS MEETING TO PROTEST NEW PLANS TO TURN MARCH BASE INTO ANOTHER LAX!!

According to the Press-Enterprise article published on Thurs., May 8, 2008, the March Jt. Powers Authority is pushing hard to obtain FAA approval to allow civilian aircraft to land at March Air Base -- that translates into corporate jet takeoffs and landings 24/7 which is the first step towards a commercial airport. The FAA approval item was added at the last minute to this past Weds.’ JPA meeting agenda in an attempt to push through the approval without the public being given a chance to weigh in. Fortunately, the meeting was rescheduled as a "General Aviation Public Hearing" to next Weds., MAY 14, 2008, at 3:00p. at 23555 Meyer Drive in Riverside. Contact No. 951-656-7000. This is your last chance to make a difference.

Join us at this critical meeting - Your neighbors, Ray Sears, Jeff Coming & Bruce Benter

I would liek to find out how any other resideants have had their vehicles struck or almost struck by the front gate as you are exiting the community? I have had several near misses and then last week it finally caught the front end of my white car leaving black paint along the front left side of my bumper.
This is unsafe and can continue to damage cars of both residents and visitors of Rancho Valencia.
The proble is the line painted on the pavement as a stopping point is too far forward and once you stop at the line the gate opens and begins to close almost immediately.
Solution is simple either paint over the white line or remove it, then repaint it at the appropriate spot where cars should be stopping, thus preventing anyone else from having the color black added to their vehicles color scheme.
Respectfully,
Ray Sears
